Pozdnyakova N.A., Andreeva M.A.

Abstract

this study is devoted to the problem of teaching primary schoolchildren foreign language speaking skills. The relevance of the topic is explained by the multidimensional nature of the problem: the influence of internal and external factors on the acquisition of speech skills, linguistic and psychological barriers, interlanguage and intra-linguistic interference, lack of a motivation to speak a foreign language and others. In addition, when teaching primary schoolchildren, it is necessary to take into account the problem of fatigue and stress due to the learning environment. The article considers such a program for children as a summer camp, which may include foreign language classes in the daily schedule. The investigation describes the method of using speaking English active games during outdoor recreation hours in a day summer camp. As an example, a series of speaking English active games is worked out for an English course Starlight 3. The advantage of the methodology lies in the fact that in a language camp, the language material previously learned by students at school is revised in an engaging form in the classroom, and then during the outdoor recreation activities. The effectiveness of this technique is based on additional speech skills training, repetition of the language material at certain intervals, stimulation of the right hemisphere of the brain through all types of motor skills, creation of an emotionally favourable environment and reduction of fatigue of the children due to physical activity.
