Citizen Involvement in Urban Improvement: Problems and Solutions
Abstract
Introduction. The indicators characterizing the degree of Russian citizens’ involvement in urban improvement and development add up to a contradictory picture. On the one hand, according to official data, public interest in this type of social activity is growing, the dynamics of quantitative indicators is positive. On the other hand, the level of trust in local governments is decreasing, and public activists are claiming insufficient involvement of citizens in urban improvement. The purpose of the study is to identify the main problems that reduce the level of involvement of Russian citizens in urban improvement and give recommendations for improving the practices of their participation in urban renewal.
Materials and Methods. The study analyzed 28 sources published between the years of 2020 and 2024 and devoted to the issues of citizen involvement in urban improvement in Russia and abroad. The sources include articles taken from Russian electronic libraries and regulatory legal acts.
Results. The analysis showed an increase in Russians’ interest in improving the urban environment and a potential for their substantive involvement in specific projects. A comparison of the best international practices with Russian approaches revealed a major problem of the quality of communication between city authorities and citizens. There are some practices in Russia that promote citizen involvement in one way or another, but they cannot compare with their foreign counterparts in terms of diversity, democracy and informality.
Discussion and Conclusion. The basis for the growth of Russian citizens’ involvement in urban improvement and development is the de-bureaucratization of the existing communication mechanisms between all stakeholders and the expansion of the variety of relevant practices, such as digital, interactive and educational initiatives, developing partnerships and cooperation.

The Role of Action Verbs in the Formation of Evaluativeness of the Statement
Abstract
Introduction. The relevance of the study is due to the growing interest in the cognitive mechanisms of the formation of evaluativeness in language, as well as the need for a more detailed study of the role of action verbs in the organization of the semantic structure of an utterance. The aim of the study is to identify the mechanisms by which action verbs profile evaluative categories and organize the interaction between the subject, object and context of the action.
Materials and Methods. The study was carried out on the material of the collection of short stories “Dogs and Other People” by the Russian author Zakhar Prilepin. The study methodology is based on the cognitive and functional-semantic approaches to the analysis of language units.
Results. The study proves that action verbs play a significant role in the formation of evaluative categories of the text due to metaphorization by creating associations with physical actions, natural phenomena and abstract states. That contributes to the improvement of the reader’s perception of the text. The use of cognitive mechanisms enhances the evaluative component of the text and focuses the reader’s attention on key aspects of the action.

Investigation of Explicit Numerical Methods for Solving Parabolic Equations
Abstract
Introduction. Numerical methods for solving heat conduction equations are widely used in various fields of science and technology. The development of new improved numerical algorithms for solving parabolic equations makes it possible to increase the accuracy of calculations, remove restrictions on the integration step in time, which will allow us to obtain solutions to practical problems in an acceptable time with high accuracy. The purpose of this work is to study the explicit methods for solving parabolic type equations using the example of solving the equation of thermal conductivity with variable coefficients.
Materials and Methods. The paper provides a software implementation of numerical algorithms for solving parabolic type equations: the well-known explicit scheme, the local iteration method, and the hyperbolization method. The algorithms were implemented in C++. The order of approximation of algorithms and their execution time for solving an equation with an analytical solution are analyzed.
Results. A numerical study of the schemes has shown that each of them has a second order of approximation in space. However, the estimated time to solve the problem using the hyperbolization method is less.
Discussion and Conclusion. In the case of solving systems of equations of the parabolic type, if it is necessary to use explicit schemes, the hyperbolization method will significantly reduce the estimated time of the problem while maintaining the stated order of accuracy.

Analysis of the Concrete Fracture Model During Compression
Abstract
Introduction. The relevance of the study is due to the need to predict the durability of concrete structures, taking into account their complex multi-stage nature of destruction. The purpose of the study is to obtain fracture criteria that allow analyzing the process of cracking at various scale levels.
Materials and Methods. Concrete prisms and a WilleGeotechnik installation (model 13-PD/401) were used to study this problem. The data obtained has been analyzed using fractal analysis methods.
Results. In the course of the study, the models of destruction of compressed concrete elements were analyzed. It is proved that the destruction of concrete is a complex multi-stage process with a hierarchy of structures and several mechanisms of destruction. The patterns of accumulation and consumption of energy spent on the destruction of structural elements during the formation of the main crack are revealed.
Discussion and Conclusion. The proposed destruction criteria will allow us to determine how the destruction mechanism proceeds at various scale levels and how the energy accumulation and consumption change. These results will be useful for researchers of the mechanics of concrete fracture as they will allow to more accurately determine the process of microcracking. As a result, the reliability of concrete structures will be improved.

Abstract
Introduction. Nutrition is an integral part of our lives, ensuring harmonious growth, functioning of organs and body’s resistance to external factors. However, many people of working age neglect the principles of rational nutrition, which leads to disorders of the immune system and chronic diseases. Special attention should be paid to the nutrition of students. Lack of time, exhaustion of the body, lack of sleep, increased stress on the mental state, especially during the session – all these factors can lead to diseases. The purpose of the study is to conduct a hygienic assessment of the vitamin status of students, taking into account the symptoms of vitamin deficiency and dietary characteristics.
Materials and Methods. The study, which was conducted using an online questionnaire in Google forms, involved 208 students of the Faculty of Economics. They were asked to answer questions about their diet and vitamin deficiency symptoms. The study was conducted outside the examination period.
Results. It turned out that 78% of students do not have a deficiency of vitamins A, D, K, B2, C, while only 34% of respondents rate their vitamin status as “excellent”. Vitamin A deficiency has become the most common problem. Vitamin B2 deficiency, on the contrary, was observed in more than 90% of students. Only 25% of students have a diet that can be described as “rational”. Legumes, liver, and bread products made from coarse flour turned out to be rarely consumed products. The most common products were milk and dairy products.
Discussion and Conclusion. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that students have a discrepancy in the intake of various nutrients. More than 90% of all students have a deficiency of biologically active substances in one form or another. The results of the study can be used to create recommendations for raising awareness among young people about vitamins and their practical use, as well as for further research in this area.
