Linguistic Representation of Gender Stereotypes in English Media Discourse
摘要
The article presents a study of linguistic mechanisms in the formation of gender stereotypes in media discourse. Considering the headlines of English newspaper articles, the ways of representing gender stereotypes in mass media are analyzed. The author concludes that media discourse not only supports traditional gender stereotypes but also contributes to the creation of new ones.
Chronotope Features of English Scientific Discourse on Educational and Didactic Topics
摘要
The article is devoted to the issue of considering the chronotope as a category of modern English scientific discourse. The aim of the study is to identify the forms of verbalization of the spatial and temporal components of the chronotope in scientific articles and conference materials on educational and didactic topics.

The article deals with the information provided in the strong position of English poetic text of the 18th-19th centuries. In this connection, the types of information provided in the titles, first stanza and last stanza of the poetic works are analyzed. A conclusion is made on the diversity of information provided in the strong position of English poetic text.

The article considers linguistic creativity as means of transferring information in the Internet communication. In this connection, a linguistic analysis of the English Internet meme is carried out. As a result, language means of creating comic effect are identified and linguistic creativity is proved to be an integral part of modern Internet communication.

The article considers the vocabulary used to represent the concept of violence in the literary text “A Clockwork Orange” by A. Burgess. The author gives a detailed description of violence as a linguistic concept and presents an analysis of the lexical means of its representation in the literary text in connection with their functional and pragmatic characteristics.
Thematic Characteristics of Neologisms in Modern English
摘要
The article presents an analysis of neologisms of modern English in terms of their thematic orientation. The analysis focuses on identifying major thematic groups of new words and revealing social, economic and technological trends by their means. As a result, the most numerous thematic groups of neologisms of modern English are revealed and studied.

The article focuses on the concept of metatext operators as verbal elements. Considering their functions in the text, a classification of metatext operators is provided. The linguistic analysis of research articles shows the most frequent metatext operators and identifies their functions in the English scientific text.

This article provides an analysis of stylistic devices used by American late-night show TV hosts. The aim of the study is to identify common stylistic features typical for American TV hosts. As a result, most frequently used stylistic devices of lexical and syntactical level have been revealed.
Functional and Pragmatic Peculiarities of the Use of Abbreviations in English Social Networks

The article provides a classification of functional and pragmatic features of English abbreviations in social networks developed by the author. As a result, the key functions of abbreviations in English social networks are identified. A conclusion is made on the ability of abbreviations to enhance communication efficiency within media discourse.
