The article considers the current projects of the library association dealing with the information technologies introduction into the work of Russian libraries. The author focuses on the participation of the Bakhtin Research Library of Mordovia State University in the association projects.

The author considers the functions of POS-materials, their advantages and disadvantages, the specifics of their use as a type of promotional materials. The author focuses on the issues of POS-materials using on the regional market. Particularly, the study analyzes some effective and noneffective examples of their using. It also includes a number of recommendations on their effectiveness increase.
