Abstract
Importance. Academic writing courses, traditionally based on the concept of English for Academic Purposes, are increasingly being criticized by researchers and teachers of this discipline. Teaching students to write scientific articles that correspond to all the rules does not seem to be enough; it is also necessary to develop didactic tools for creating appropriate text structures that lie in the field of linguocultural meanings and are closely related to the intellectual style of representatives of a particular culture and provide them to students. The purpose of the research is: a) substantiation of the idea of “cultural capacity” of an academic text; b) identification of text parameters in which national and cultural meanings are expressed; c) analysis of linguistic and cultural features of scientific articles written by Russian-speaking authors in Russian, based on these parameters; d) determination of the specifics of the intellectual style of Russian-speaking researchers.Materials and methods. A discourse analysis of 139 scientific articles from the field of linguistics and theory and teaching methods written by Russian-speaking authors in Russian was carried out. Results and Discussion. An average portrait of a Russian-speaking researcher was compiled and the features of his intellectual style were described.Conclusion. It is revealed that: a) not only artistic texts have linguistic and cultural potential, but also texts of other functional styles, including scientific articles; b) culture and the text of a scientific article have common features; c) the intellectual style of Russian-speaking researchers tends to Teutonic, and the way of thinking – to “holistic, dialectical”.
