This article analyzes the image as a resource for improving the competitiveness of the territory. The ability to compete for preferences depends not only on the presence of image attributes, but on the methods of their positioning. The Republic of Mordovia has a number of advantages related to the ethno-national component, sports, educational and innovative potential. However, the lack of a well-developed image strategy that allows to accumulate all image elements reduces the effectiveness of the region's promotion.

The article analyzes the policy of multiculturalism in France considered as a means to mitigate the negative consequences of the influx of migrants. It is noted that some migrants did not and do not want to change their national identity to French. The author concludes that this has contributed to the division of society and has become a challenge for France to deal with.

The article contains an analysis of the main trends in the development of multicultural ideas from the moment of their inception to the modern period. The authors conclude that, although multiculturalism has never been recognized as a priority principle of the national policy of Russia, at present some of its ideological aspects can be successfully applied in the political practices of Russia.

The article analyzes the use of new media during the electoral campaigns of the candidates who participated in the presidential elections in Russia on March 18, 2018. The authors examine both the electoral significance of the main network resources and the activities of the election headquarters of individual candidates in winning the votes of the users of popular social networks and online blogs.
