Macrothematic space of English academic text on international economics
摘要
The article deals with the macrothematic space of an English academic text on international economics. The field research method, applied to the text analysis, allowed to identify the segments of the semantic space of the text under study. Along with a hierarchy of the lexical units, representing the text thematic segments, the frequency of their use was established.


Language means of emotivity realization in English hypertexts

The article presents a lexical analysis of English hypertexts frequently placed on Internet sites devoted to book selling. The author studies lexical units regularly used for emotivity realization in praise and summary texts considered as hypertexts in modern literary communication.

The article deals with various types of communication strategies. Considering the texts of public presentations of US President Barack Obama, the author focuses on the strategy of modern US politician self-presentation verbalized by some communication tactics. The study highlights a high pragmatic value of the tactics used by the speaker and their effectiveness as a tool in the struggle for political power.

Teaching speaking in a nutshell for university students and teachers of english language as a foreign language

Current needs of the society that are reflected in educational objectives derived from communicative competence and the ultimate objective of studying English as a foreign language, are more in the foreground. One of these current needs is the ability to communicate effectively. Speaking as a skill is still more and more emphasized as employers look for communicatively competent employees. The author pays due attention to this particular skill and explores it in detail by providing a clear summary of speaking sub-skills, a precise description of a proper and successful speaking activity and a typology of speaking activities needed to be practiced in English classrooms.
