摘要
This article deals with the issue of studying the characteristics of the popular scientific style in the English language. The analysis of the English texts in question is carried out in order to identify their lexical, grammatical and stylistic features.
Linguistic personality in English memoir texts

The article considers the lexical and grammatical means of representing linguistic personality in English memoir texts. The author analyzes the book of memories of Margaret Thatcher "The Autobiography" to identify the typical language units used to mark the author's linguistic personality.
Linguocultural features of contemporary sports discourse: an English-based study
摘要
The paper is devoted to explication of the linguistic and cultural specifics of sports discourse. Approaches to the definition of the concept of “discourse” are studied. The analysis of sports discourse as a part of a sports context within which a communicative action takes place (on the example of the English teams) is given. The main approaches and problems of studying sports discourse in modern linguistic studies are also considered.
Verbalization of the concept "house" in English fiction texts
摘要
The article presents a study of the artistic concept "house". By comparing the lexemes "house" and "home", common cognitive features and conceptual areas of the concept "house" were identified. Having analyzed the peculiarities of the use of the lexeme "house" in literary texts, it was determined that in the works of English literature the concept "house" corresponds to its base layer "the building in which the family lives", and also acquires new meanings in accordance with the author's worldview.
Unassimilated Spanish borrowings in US mass media
摘要
The article aims at studying the role of unassimilated Spanish borrowings in the US mass media. The author describes the extra-linguistic factors of Spanish borrowings occurrence in the USA and also analyses the influence of connotative meanings of unassimilated Spanish borrowings on the content of the American articles. As a result, certain connotations of the discovered Spanish borrowings were distinguished in the texts of the US newspaper articles.
Difficulties and features of translation of contaminated speech

The concept of language area is widely used in linguistic and related research fields to denote a stable spread area of a certain language with the status of a native official one as well as the means of international communication. The concept also includes a range of specific national concepts and themes that define both the specified language and the corresponding culture.
Implementation of interlanguage interference through linguodidactic mechanisms

This article considers the interpretations of the terms “interlanguage interference” and “language attrition”. The main causes of these phenomena and their impact on the learning process are discussed. A number of second language learning methods that can significantly reduce the risk of interference are described. Conclusions about their relevance in the context of learning several second languages are made.
Functions of modal verbs in English autobiographic text

This article considers the semantic functions modal verbs frequently used in English autobiographic texts. The study is based on the autobiographies “Moab Is My Washpot” by Stephen Fry and “An Autobiography” by Agatha Christie. As a result, the author identifies and describes typical contexts of the use of modal verbs in English autobiographic texts.
Contemporary practice of film translation

The article is dedicated to the present-day practice of film translation in Russia and abroad. It examines the history of the formation and development of this field of translation, its main types and features. The article attempts to describe conditions and stages of the process of audiovisual translation and analyzes some professional requirements that account for successful film translation.
