Lexico-Semantic Fields of Economic Terms: a Study of the English Academic Text
Resumo
The article deals with the internal structure of the lexico-semantic fields of economic terms used in English academic texts on economics. Representing the features of professional language, the analyzed text shows a relatively high degree of specialization, which is reflected in its terminology.

The article considers the main strategies, tactics and types of manipulations used in the modern political sphere. An analysis of public speeches of current US politicians proves the importance of speech manipulative techniques for successful achievement of political goals.
Phonetic, Grammatical and Lexical Characteristics of Welsh English
Resumo
The article examines Welsh English on various linguistic levels by analyzing the speeches of Carwyn Howell Jones, the Prime Minister of Wales, Welsh folk tales, and film discourse. The article focuses on the process of emergence and the stages of development of the regional standard as well as explaining the place of Welsh English in the current linguistic map of Wales.
Types of Precedent Phenomena in Political Discourse of the U.S.A.

The political discourse of the USA is full of precedent phenomena which make the components of the cognitive base of modern political discourse. There are different types of precedent phenomena which are regularly reproduced in public speeches of politicians and function as discourse units.
Cultural Approach to Special Language Terminology Based on Equivalence
Resumo
The paper offers the results of the research conducted on specialized terminology of taxation based on quantitative approach to equivalence. The Slovak taxation terminology has been carefully compared with the British terminology, with the terminology used by the HMRC and further with the terminology contained in the British National Corpus. The equivalents are divided into absolute, relative and zero. The examples of zero equivalence are further analysed through qualitative method based on pragmatic equivalence.
Non-Semiotic Stratification of Written English Discourse: Current Issues
Resumo
The article presents a study of non-semiotic units of written discourse. These units represent implicit textual speech level. The study provides a description of non-semiotic concepts which represent both stereotypical world concept and individual system of values within the English written discourse.
The Main Stages and the Mechanism of Translation
Resumo
The article describes the main stages of translation and the categories used by the translator while matching units of the original language to the target one. The study attempts at distinguishing between such notions as strategy of translation, methods of translation and means of translation (or translation transformation). The author also considers the major classifications of translation transformations described in linguistic research works.
