Expressing subject by substantivized parts of speech in Erzya and Hungarian languages
Abstract
The article considers the term ‘subject’, identifies its functions in the Finno-Ugric and other languages. The author studies the substantivisation processes of different parts of speech in the Erzya and Hungarian languages. A study of Mordovian and Hungarian fiction texts showed the expression of subject by the substantivized parts of speech (adjectives, participles, numerals, pronouns, adverbs) in the languages regarded.
Finnish determinative composites and their translation into Erzya language
Abstract
The article considers the types of determinative composites in the Finnish language and the techniques of their translation into the Erzya language. Thus, Finnish grammars distinguish between two types of determinative composites: appositive and iterative compounds. The author suggests the loan translation technique to translate Finnish appositive composites into the Erzya language. As for the iterative compound words, the author suggests the equivalent and descriptive translation techniques.
