Innovations and Desired Future: Vision of Russian Youth
Abstract
Considering the results of an online sociological survey, the opinions of Russian youth about the future are studied in the context of society technological development. The authors analyze the attitudes of Russian young people to innovations and their vision of employment, professions, free time, personal development, place and country of residence in thirty years from now.


Self-Presentation of Moscow Students on the VKontakte and Facebook Social Networks: a Comparative Analysis
Abstract
Self-presentation on social networks is a fairly young and dynamically developing phenomenon, which will become more widespread over time, take certain organizational and structural forms and is highly likely to have an impact on the lives of individuals. This article provides the results of a sociological research of Moscow students’ self-presentation on the VKontakte and Facebook social networks.


Social Expectations of University Students: a Comparative Sociological Analysis of Moscow State Linguistic University and University of Turin
Abstract
Social expectations of university students are tied to their motivation as an important element of the learning process. Considering the student expectations, changes to the curriculum may be introduced in order to improve its quality for the benefit of the student. This article provides the results of a sociological research of the content and features of social expectations of university students of the learning process.


Informal Employment: Gender Aspect
Abstract
The article provides a consistent analysis: gender characteristics of employment in general, theoretical and methodological foundations of informal employment, and analysis of statistical data from ILO and Rosstat regarding gender differences in informal employment. In conclusion the author gives an overview of the key directions of the social policy on this issue.


Who Are the Heroes of the Era? Images of Masculinity in Russian Cinema: an Analysis of Soviet and Post-Soviet Films
Abstract
The article, based on the discourse and content analysis of cinema, examines the heroes of the epoch and images of masculinity in various periods of Russian society development. Social features of the hero and images of masculinity represented in Soviet and post-Soviet cinema are revealed. The conclusion is made about the transformation of masculinity images in historical dynamics.


Structuring and Realization of Values in Video Games
Abstract
The article presents a sociological approach to the study of values in the structure of video games. In particular, it is shown how developers construct and manipulate these values. The analysis of the axiological sphere of computer games proves that the actualization of values depends both on the game and the gamer.


Résumé as a Tool for Studying Inequality in the Labor Market
Abstract
Based on an overview of foreign and domestic publications, the article discusses the résumé as a tool for obtaining primary sociological data on manifestations of inequality in the labor market. The possibilities of using résumés in studies with both a quantitative and a qualitative methodology are shown.


Social Memory in the Families of Political Reprisal Victims: a Regional Study
Abstract
The paper, based on the data of a qualitative sociological research, reveals the basic social characteristics of family memory of the peasant’s expropriation and political reprisals of the first half of the 20th century among social groups on the territory of Mordovia. The major factors influencing the formation and translation of the family memory are studied. The assessment of the conflict potential of collective memory of reprisals is provided.


The Gender Role of Men in Modern Family Practices
Abstract
The article presents the results of a sociological study conducted among young men of the city of Saransk. The features of male gender roles in modern young families and the main factors influencing their formation were identified. The transformation trends of the male gender role in the egalitarian direction were discovered.


Factors of Social Well-Being of the Population of the Region
Abstract
The article provides a theoretical analysis of the conceptual studies of the "social well-being" category. The authors propose the groups of factors that affect the formation of social well-being of an individual and/or group. Considering the empirical data, it is concluded that the priority groups of factors that determine social well-being of the population of the region include social and professional factors.
