Deviations from the norms of usage in native English speakers: errors and innovations

Khotskina O., Nikerova S.

摘要

the article discusses deviations from codified norms in lexical usage among speakers of British and American English within spontaneous speech contexts. Particular emphasis is placed on distinguishing between speech errors and deliberate linguistic innovations. The study aims to identify units contravening established literary norms, differentiate errors from innovations, and identify transitional forms existing at the interface between deviation and codification. We systematically analyze unintentional, non-codified lexical usages arising outside literary standards and trace their potential evolution from isolated errors to established linguistic innovations. Based on a substantial corpus of video recordings featuring spontaneous speech by native British and American English speakers, 227 instances of lexical deviations were identified and categorized. The study employs an original classification system proposed by the authors, which quantifies the distribution of identified elements across each category. Furthermore, this work underscores the practical significance of understanding the nature of such deviations for English language learners.

摘要

this article examines the influence of the iconic work of the Russian writer Viktor Astafyev "The King Fish" on the work of the modern Chinese writer Chi Zijian. Through the analysis of three aspects – narrative style, moral idealism and ecological philosophy – it is revealed how Chi Zijian inherits and creatively reworks the traditions of V. Astafiev in confessional narration, moral reconstruction of rural prose and philosophical understanding of nature. The study shows that Chi Zijian's works integrate creative ideas through localization. Astafieva enters the cultural context of a northeastern Chinese village, criticizing the alienation of modernity and exploring the deep relationship between man and nature, morality and civilization. This cross-cultural exchange represents not only the borrowing of artistic techniques, but also the resonance of literary spirit and aesthetic aspirations.

On the problem of the collateral category of procedural phraseological units in the Russian language

Aliyeva F.

摘要

the article examines the category of collateral of procedural phraseological units in the Russian language. It is established that the category of collateral of procedural phraseological units is closely related to their transitivity-intransitivity, reversibility-irrevocability. The lexical and grammatical category of transitivity-intransitivity, as well as the reversibility-irrevocability of procedural phraseological units determine the semantic and formal oppositions that develop within the morphological category of the pledge. The pledge of categorical phraseological units is considered by us as a morphological category expressing the subject-object orientation of an action. The category of collateral for procedural phraseological units has a complex grammatical nature. The pledge is an uneasy three-stage opposition in which the pledge is opposed to the passive and the reciprocal. Within the actual pledge, transitional procedural phraseological units are contrasted with intransitive ones as objectless ones. It is cut off that, in general, in the category of collateral, refundable forms are contrasted with non-refundable ones. The form of the actual pledge, saturated with various subject-object shades, is the most active and powerful in the category of collateral of procedural phraseological units. The collateral category has a phrase-changing character only for transitional procedural phraseological units, which form correlative forms of the valid and passive voice. Not all phraseological units have such forms, and they are used less and less frequently in speech. For other procedural phraseological units, the pledge is a classification category.

Сognitive processing of multi-layered narratives: neuro-linguistic analysis of the "road" by Cormac McCarthy

Galeeva T., Belova S., Zhigalova M.

摘要

this article explores the cognitive processes involved in the perception and interpretation of multi-layered narratives using the example of Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road. The focus is on neuro-linguistic aspects that affect the understanding of the text, including the interaction between language structures, emotional reactions and mental models of the reader. The research is based on the analysis of various textual elements and techniques, such as metaphors, symbolism and plot construction, substantiating their influence on cognitive processes. The urgency of the problem of revealing deep semantic layers in a work of art at the limit of the expressiveness of language and its ability to convey complex human experiences, ideas and emotions is due to the global interaction of different cultures, the ability of art to convey meaning beyond language barriers. This allows people from different countries and cultures to connect at a deep level, overcoming linguistic and conceptual differences. In the digital age, there is a need for new forms of communication. Social networks and visual media are becoming the main channels of interaction, and the relevance of studying ways to convey meaning beyond language is only increasing. The purpose of the article is to study the cognitive processes involved in processing multi-layered narratives in Cormac McCarthy's novel "The Road" with an emphasis on neuro-linguistic aspects, revealing how the reader perceives, interprets and emotionally reacts to the text. Objectives of the article: 1. To explore the multilayered narrative elements in "The Road". 2. To study the cognitive mechanisms activated when reading a novel, including syntactic analysis, semantic interpretation, and the construction of mental models. 3. To investigate how the emotional content of a text affects neuro-linguistic processing and the formation of emotional responses in the reader. 4. To consider which neuro-linguistic strategies the reader uses to comprehend and interpret the multi-layered content of the narrative. These tasks will help to better understand how cognitive neuro-linguistic processes shape the perception and understanding of literary texts, as well as reveal the role of language in the cognitive models of the reader.

Features of the syntax of the New Testament translations in the aspect of studying folk Latin

Baluta A., Baluta A.

摘要

the article is devoted to the study of the features of the language of the translations of the Synoptic Gospels into Latin in the aspect of comparative analysis with the features of the syntax of popular Latin. The main research methods are comparative and semantic-grammatical analysis. The study reveals that a significant portion of the translated Latin New Testament text, particularly its narrative sections, is a well-crafted literary translation that does not fully reflect the constructional features of spoken language. The Biblical New Testament Latin is still heavily influenced by semi-predicative constructions, which served as analogues of subordinate clauses in classical languages. When translating the Synoptic Gospels, participial and infinitive phrases, as well as gerundive constructions, are often used. Instead of explanatory clauses, including those with the meaning of indirect questions, semi-predicative infinitive constructions Accusativus cum infinitivo could be found. Gradually, in line with the general trend towards analyticity in Romance languages, infinitive phrases are being replaced by subordinate clauses. This process is not yet fully reflected in the language of the Vulgate texts. The translation of the Bible into Latin is often influenced by the Greek original text, which is reflected in the translation of certain phrases and subordinate constructions. Sometimes, even Greek subordinate clauses with real moods of the verb-сказуемое are translated into Latin with conjunctive forms, which is due to the analogizing influence of the frequency of syntactic models in the literary language. In contrast, the passages that convey Christ's sermons reflect the characteristics of vernacular speech, similar to those found in vernacular Latin, which partially supports the theory of the existence of the Protoevangelium text.

Paradigmatics of the term as a criterion of the scientific validity of a theory

Kakolyri I.

摘要

this article examines the paradigmatics of the term as a criterion for the scientific validity of the theory, with an emphasis on linguoecology. The purpose of the study was to analyze and describe current trends in terminology, including transterminologization and metaphorical borrowings from other sciences. Particular attention is paid to the criticism of linguoecology for the lack of clear criteria and research tools, as well as for the excessive creation of terms without sufficient theoretical justification. Research has shown that the problem of nominating terms of modern scientific trends in linguistics remains relevant due to the interdisciplinary nature of modern scientific knowledge. The cognitive aspect of the formation of modern linguistic terms determines the comprehensive study of scientific information, including extralinguistic factors of the emergence of new scientific concepts in various fields of human activity. In the course of the research, it was proved that the appearance of new terms does not always represent a new scientific direction, but the idea of separating new knowledge into a new branch of science (new science) is necessarily accompanied by the appearance of new terms (neologisms, neonyms). The conclusion is made: the study of the ways of forming the latest linguistic nominations will make it possible to clarify their semantic and functional features as part of the paradigms, which is an indicator of the scientific validity of the theory.

The concept of "Love" in Russian and Arabic linguocultures

Magomedova S., Sarukhanova A.

摘要

this article examines the linguocultural concept of "love," described through the linguistic means of the Russian and Arabic languages. A linguocultural comparison of the verbal realizations of this concept is conducted to identify the lexico-semantic tools used to express love in both languages, considering emotional states, relationships, behaviors, and the stereotypes of Russian and Arab societies associated with the notion of love. Commonalities and national-specific features in the use of linguistic means for conceptualizing these ideas within the linguistic picture of the world (LPW) are revealed through a comparison of their verbal realizations both within each language and in relation to one another. This approach allows for the identification of value dominants in each cultural society.

Semantic diffusion: a linguo-synergetic study of cinematic discourse

Butenko E.

摘要

the synergistic nature of the cinematic text study, namely the convergence of linguistic-stylistic and interdisciplinary aspects, contributes to a comprehensive and more detailed examination of discourse as an open dynamic system. Concepts borrowed from the exact sciences do not contradict linguistic specificity; they rather introduce substantial preciseness in the description and interpretation of the phenomena under consideration. This factor gains particular importance in the understanding and analysis of the studied topic – semantic diffusion and its cognitive-pragmatic significance. Diffuseness, that is, the vagueness of speech-thought activity is a property inherent to natural communication. The realization of diffuseness in the characters' statements conveys explicitly unmanifested essential meanings and modalities. The inevitable presence of diffusing lingua-stylistic structures and elements in dialogue necessitates their identification and situational-contextual interpretation. Verbalizing the phenomenon of semantic diffusion by adequate translational means contributes to achieving an equivalent film text perception in the language of the receiving culture.

Linguistic specifics of headlines as a tool for forming a reader's position

Seredenko V., Vyunov A.

摘要

the article is devoted to the analysis of the linguistic features of the headlines of the Japanese news media as a tool for shaping the reader's position. The object of the analysis is the coverage of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Russia by the Japanese media in the period from May 4 to May 9, 2025. The purpose of the study is to identify the linguistic strategies and tactics through which the largest national publications NHK, Asahi Shimbun and Sankei Shimbun form the interpretative framework of the event and encourage the reader to accept the transmitted ideological attitudes. Empirical material was provided by more than thirty online publications of these media outlets, using methods of critical discourse analysis, pragmalinguistic and semantic analysis. The study revealed that Japanese headlines combine informative, cataphorical, and perceptual functions; their manipulative potential is realized through elliptical syntax, implication, presupposition, and culturally marked lexical choice. NHK, during its coverage of the events, focused on the threat of drone attacks, forming an alarming emotional background; Asahi combined diplomatic news with the topic of security, enhancing the drama with quantitative hyperbole; Sankei focused on the geo-political dimension, noting the confrontation between Russia and the United States with the simultaneous rapprochement of Russia and the DPRK. Thus, all three editions shift the focus from the commemorative nature of the event to the political context and form the reader's image of Victory Day as a political event used by various actors in their interests. The scientific novelty of the work consists in a comprehensive description of the mechanisms of hidden ideological influence using headlines in Japanese media discourse and a comparison of microlinguistic techniques used by three national media of Japan for this purpose.

摘要

the purpose of this study is a terminological analysis of musical art terms recorded in P.A. Oyunsky's “Russian-Yakut Dictionary of Terminology and Orthography”. Our objectives include: 1. A brief overview of the dictionary's history. This scholarly work was compiled at a time when the Yakut literary language was just beginning to develop and the Yakut language lacked terms for many important fields of knowledge. During those years, heated debates raged over the alphabet, terminology, orthography, and the transmission of Russian loanwords. The publication of this work was a significant event for the Yakut language, as it became an important step in its further development and helped in the standardization of writing. 2. Terminographic analysis of musical terms included in the dictionary of P.A. Oyunsky, with the aim of identifying the main term-forming means in the Yakut language used by the author in compiling the “Russian-Yakut terminological and orthographic dictionary”. This study can find practical application in the analysis of P.A. Oyunsky's ideas on the most important issues of language construction such as graphics, spelling and terminology. The scientific works of P.A. Oyunsky are still effective today and require consideration in relation to solving the most important problems of language policy in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

A structural and semantic analysis of German phraseological units with an anthroponym component

Arsakhanova M., Musaeva I.

摘要

this article provides a structural and semantic analysis of German phraseological units containing an anthroponym component. Using a corpus of examples, the universal and specific features of such units are identified, emphasizing their cultural significance as markers of the linguistic worldview. Proper names are considered special elements of the linguistic system, integrated into it through formal, semantic, and pragmatic aspects, which complicates their translation and cultural interpretation. An analysis of the syntactic structures of phraseological units with anthroponyms revealed nine productive patterns, which can be grouped into four categories: nominative ("eine kokette Eva" – "a coquette"), verbal ("den alten Adam ausziehen" – "to become a different person"), adverbial ("im Adam(s)kost?m" – "in the nude"), and comparative ("wie ein h?lzerner Johannes" – "to stand like a statue"). Semantic analysis reveals the metaphorical nature of expressions, based on the characteristics of real or fictional individuals, the cultural context (variability in perception across regions of Germany), and the sociolinguistic aspect (dependence on social groups). Functionally, phraseological units with anthroponyms reflect gender, historical, and sociocultural realities, contributing to the enrichment of language and the understanding of cultural traditions. Examples such as "Hans im Gl?ck" (lucky one) or "jemandem einen B?ren aufbinden" (to deceive) illustrate connotations and references to German culture. The study's findings highlight the role of anthroponyms in shaping national identity and have potential applications in linguistics, cultural studies, and the teaching of German as a foreign language.

Lexical and syntactic markers of condemnation as a form of verbal aggression in English Internet discourse

Deeney I., Belova L.

摘要

the article deals with the features of communication processes in the English-speaking Internet space of social networks, characterized by the prevalence of speech aggression, one of the forms of which is condemnation. Within the framework of this study, the analysis of a complex of lexical and syntactic linguistic tools presented in aggressively directed messages of the social network X was carried out. The methodology of this study is presented by a review of scientific works by domestic and foreign researchers on the issue under discussion. We have used a number of general scientific and special linguistic research methods, including conversational and contextual analysis of discourse to identify specific characteristics of verbalization of aggressive intentions using linguistic means. The key result of the scientific study of lexical units is the confirmation of the hypothesis of the dominance of speech aggression as the leading strategy of interpersonal communication in the English-speaking digital space. It is established that the aggressive communicative paradigm determines the choice of conflict-oriented interaction models, which leads to the active use of linguistic means of criticism and condemnation, forming the discursive space of social networks.

摘要

translation aesthetics requires the translator to understand, transform, and process the aesthetic information contained in the aesthetic object, aiming to recreate the aesthetic effect and ensure that the reader of the translation experiences the same aesthetic response as the reader of the original. Maxim Gorky’s novel Mother, being a representative work of the Russian?Soviet «red classics», possesses a distinctly romantic aesthetic orientation. This article analyzes aesthetic reproduction in translating the formal system of the original text at three levels – phonetic, lexical, and stylistic (discursive) – and also examines the aesthetic reproduction of the informal system of the original from the perspective of the beauty of imagery and the beauty of ideas. The aim of the study is to provide methodological recommendations for translating the Russian?Soviet «red classics» into Chinese, achieving a high unity of truth, goodness, and beauty within the framework of Marxist aesthetics.

Speech strategies of conflict and agreement: the role of expressive syntax in dialogues of modern prose

Shi L.

摘要

this article examines expressive syntactic constructions (ESCs) as means of implementing speech strategies of agreement and conflict in dialogues in contemporary Russian prose. The aim of the study is to identify the functional and pragmatic characteristics of ESCs when expressing characters' communicative intentions. Using the novels "Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes" by G. Yakhina, "Bad Weather" by A. Ivanov, "Time of Women" by E. Chizhova, and "Chagin" by E. Vodolazkin, the author analyzes such constructions as parcellation, repetition, rhetorical questions and exclamations, ellipsis, omission, inversion, and communiquemes. The objectives of the study are to identify typical models of interaction between ESCs and speech strategies, determine their cognitive-pragmatic potential, and establish a correlation between the structure of an utterance and its intentional content. Methods of contextual and interpretive analysis, linguistic classification, and quantitative analysis are used. The obtained results clarify the mechanisms of syntactic expression of emotional and volitional states, reveal the characteristics of the author's idiostyle, and patterns of characters' speech behavior. The practical significance of this work lies in the potential use of its findings in teaching courses on pragmatics, cognitive linguistics, and literary discourse analysis.
