Abstract
translation aesthetics requires the translator to understand, transform, and process the aesthetic information contained in the aesthetic object, aiming to recreate the aesthetic effect and ensure that the reader of the translation experiences the same aesthetic response as the reader of the original. Maxim Gorky’s novel Mother, being a representative work of the Russian?Soviet «red classics», possesses a distinctly romantic aesthetic orientation. This article analyzes aesthetic reproduction in translating the formal system of the original text at three levels – phonetic, lexical, and stylistic (discursive) – and also examines the aesthetic reproduction of the informal system of the original from the perspective of the beauty of imagery and the beauty of ideas. The aim of the study is to provide methodological recommendations for translating the Russian?Soviet «red classics» into Chinese, achieving a high unity of truth, goodness, and beauty within the framework of Marxist aesthetics.
