Abstract

this article examines the historical evolution of the accompanist's role in academic musical tradition. Initially, the accompanist served a supportive function, limited to the technical accompaniment of a soloist or ensemble. However, in the 20th and 21st centuries, this role has transformed into an equal creative partnership, requiring active participation in the interpretation of works. The article analyzes changes in compositional techniques, the increasing complexity of accompanying parts, and the development of pedagogical approaches that have contributed to this transformation. Particular attention is given to modern methods of training accompanists, aimed at developing interpretative and communicative skills, as well as practical aspects of their activities across various genres. The professional challenges faced by accompanists in contemporary settings and the prospects for the development of this profession are discussed.
