Abstract

this article describes the importance of developing students’ research competence, especially in the context of changes in the higher education system in Russia at the current stage of society development. It also examines the main stages of work on developing students’ research competence, provides a detailed interpretation of the concept of research in the context of university education, and provides the goals and objectives of research-based learning. Specific examples are used to examine how students can improve, develop and deepen the basic knowledge they have gained in lectures and practical classes in language subjects using an approach based on research, conducted both individually and collaboratively. The authors describe a project conducted with first-year students of the Faculty of Medicine of the South Ural State Medical University with the aim of developing their research competence in the context of such a subject as Russian language and speech culture. The efficiency of the process of developing students’ research competence in language classes at the university is determined by the success of the project work. The article reveals the conceptual features of organizing students’ work with scientific literature and various educational content. Emphasis is placed on the importance of social forms of work, such as, for example, group work, in the process of developing students’ research competence. The conducted study meets the modern needs of the state and society in terms of training students for research activities and forming their readiness for independent and active scientific search, which confirms the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market.
