The article presents an analysis of the indexes differentiating between the regional economies of the Volga Federal District over 2005-2010. A number of solutions to overcome the socio-economic gap between the regions of the Volga Federal District are suggested.

The author presents a study of the loans to legal entities of the Mordovian branch of JSC "Sberbank of Russia". Particularly, the dynamics of the total loan portfolio, the dynamics of the corporate loan portfolio, and the structure of the loans to legal entities are considered.
