The article considers the place of infrastructure capacity in the system of the regional socio-economic potential. Particularly, the author presents an item-interpretation of the term "infrastructure" and gives a definition of infrastructure capacity as a geographer and social scientist.
Demographic factor as important component of labour market
Аннотация
The article considers the population dynamics and the changes in demographic processes and structures over the period from 2002 to 2012. The author draws a conclusion that the changes have had a negative effect on the demographic potential of the Republic of Mordovia. As a result a regressive age structure has been formed. Consequently, there is a decrease in economic activity of the region.
Demographic situation in Russian Regions densely populated by Finno-Ugric peoples
Аннотация
The article considers the demographic development of the Finno-Ugric peoples of the Russian Federation. The study reports on stabilization of the demographic situation in some of the Finno-Ugric regions. At the same time, the author draws attention to the critical demographic situation in the Republic of Mordovia and the Republic of Karelia. In this connection, the author presents a typology of Russian regions based on demographic indicators.
Geography of transport links in the regions of depressed type
Аннотация
The article deals with the transport links of the regions of depressed type (Ulyanovsk region, the Republic of Chuvashia and Mari El). The author analyzes the types of transport available in the regions regarded as well as their export and import capacities. Consequently, the study presents the geography of major transport routes in the depressed regions.

Socio-geographical aspects of transport studies

The authors use the indicator of integral transport accessibility in order to assess the social qualities of localities. The study results into a conclusion that a favourable place of residence is determined by the quality of the immediate living environment and the quality of transport services.
