Demographic factor as important component of labour market

The article considers the population dynamics and the changes in demographic processes and structures over the period from 2002 to 2012. The author draws a conclusion that the changes have had a negative effect on the demographic potential of the Republic of Mordovia. As a result a regressive age structure has been formed. Consequently, there is a decrease in economic activity of the region.

The article considers the demographic development of the Finno-Ugric peoples of the Russian Federation. The study reports on stabilization of the demographic situation in some of the Finno-Ugric regions. At the same time, the author draws attention to the critical demographic situation in the Republic of Mordovia and the Republic of Karelia. In this connection, the author presents a typology of Russian regions based on demographic indicators.
