Abstract
The Russian-language periodicals hold a special place in the development of ethnic culture of the Mordvinian people. The statement is proved by a wide range of topics covered by the reporters under the following sections: "Society", "Culture", "Sport", "Agriculture", "Money" and "Meet the Head of Mordovia", "Promotion", "Our Town", "Religion", "Health", "Consumer", "Tips and Tricks", "Housing", "Economy", "Events", "Education", "Ecology", "Politics", "News of Telecommunication Companies". Considering this quite a big list of rubrics, we can conclude that the information presented to the reader is diverse and includes the issues of various spheres. In this connection the materials by Catherine Spiridonova, who covers top cultural events in the region\'s life, are of major significance. For example, these are "Media: Mordovia Inhabited by 119 Ethnoses", "Channel Culture" and "World to Tell about the Culture of Mordovia", "Saransk to Host XVI Republican Festival "Shumbrat, Mordovia!". These journalistic texts prove the Mordvinian culture to be a relevant topic at present. The journalist emphasizes this fact in her texts.
