Abstract

the article presents the results of the evaluation of effectiveness of using two different protocols of strength training of combat athletes in a 4-week cycle of competitive training. Two groups of combat athletes participated in a 4-week training camp. Combat athletes (Group A) applied "classical" strength training with weights. Group B applied "circuit" strength training. To evaluate level of effectiveness of training effects, special tests for assessing strength abilities and the competitive potential analysis system (PotAS) were used. The results of testing and assessing the level of competitive readiness (Po-tAS) did not reveal any significant differences in indicators characterizing the level of development of strength abilities and competitive performance of studied combat athletes. Coaches and athletes can equally successfully use these strength training protocols in 4-week competitive training cycles for combat athletes, who competing in sambo and judo.
