Methodological potential of films in teaching a foreign language (on the example of the series “Emily in Paris”)

the article analyses the role of films in foreign language learning and the development of motivation. The positive components of watching authentic films in foreign language classes are considered. They create situations of natural communication, individual approach in teaching a foreign language, are a powerful tool for self-improvement, as well as a source of linguocultural information, help to come up with productive lexical-grammatical tasks, develop speaking and listening skills. The multicultural component of the series “Emily in Paris” offers a variety of opportunities for methodological work and creates interesting topics for discussion. The authors propose a selection of such topics.
