Abstract
this article examines expressive syntactic constructions as means of conveying the emotion of consolation in literary dialogue within contemporary Russian prose. The study aims to identify communicative strategies of consolation and describe their realization through various syntactic models. The research objectives include: classifying communicative strategies of consolation in literary discourse; determining the functions of expressive syntactic constructions in creating consolatory effects. The methodology employs continuous sampling, quantitative analysis, and contextual analysis, enabling systematic categorization of examples from works by G. Yakhina, E. Chizhova and A. Ivanov. The analysis reveals that consolation is realized through diverse syntactic means: repetition, direct address, inversion, parcellation, rhetorical questions and exclamations, communicemes, and aposiopesis. Each device serves specific functions—from rational explanation and attention redirection to creating intimate communicative atmospheres and emotional convergence. The study establishes repetition and inversion as the most productive strategies for expressing consolation, enhancing encouragement effects and reducing emotional tension. The practical significance lies in applying these findings to linguopragmatics, communicative stylistics, and teaching Russian as a foreign language. The results contribute to deeper understanding of verbal influence mechanisms and expand knowledge about expressive syntax functions in literary texts.
