Abstract

Physical culture and sports play an important role in the lives of young people, contributing to the formation of a healthy lifestyle, strengthening social ties, and personal development. The study is dedicated to examining the influence of sports activity on the physical, psychological, social, and intellectual well-being of the youth in the city of Barnaul. The work looks at how regular engagement in sports affects the levels of social involvement, communication skills, self-esteem, and stress resistance among young people. Particular attention is paid to the perception of sports not just as a form of leisure, but as a significant resource for self-realization, socialization, and improvement of overall quality of life, as well as the development of skills necessary in modern society, such as goal-setting, discipline, and teamwork. Additionally, social mechanisms through which sports activity contributes to the formation of positive behavior patterns and adaptation of youth in the rapidly changing social environment are analyzed. Within the framework of the topic, a methodology was developed and a sociological study was conducted among the youth of Barnaul (ages 18-35). A total of 231 respondents, selected by gender and age (quota sampling), participated in the survey. In the second stage, expert interviews (n=6) were conducted with specialists in physical culture and youth policy. This research allows for a deeper understanding of the impact of sports activity on various aspects of youth life in Barnaul. Based on the results of the study, the following conclusions were made: First, regular sports activities significantly improve the physical and psychological health of young individuals. Second, sports activity helps strengthen social connections and develop teamwork skills. Third, participation in sports events positively influences the formation of value orientations and motivation for personal growth. Fourth, sports assist youth in better adapting to social changes and reduce the levels of stress. Thus, the study emphasizes the importance of developing sports infrastructure and programs aimed at involving youth in an active lifestyle as a means of comprehensive improvement of their quality of life and social integration.

Postcrossing as a socio-cultural practice

Vetchininova P.D.

Abstract

In the context of digitalization and globalization, there is a growing interest in analog forms of communication, among which postcrossing occupies a special place as a form of slow, tangible and symbolically saturated interpersonal communication. Subject of the research: communicative processes and socio-cultural mechanisms resulting from the practice of postcrossing, including the role of symbolic exchange in overcoming cultural barriers and developing intercultural interactions. The object of research is the Postcrossing as a global socio-cultural practice, which is a form of intercultural communication organized through the exchange of postcards between participants from different countries. The purpose of the study is to identify the socio-cultural potential of postcrossing as a form of intercultural communication and a tool for social integration in the context of global challenges. The study focuses on the formation of a deep emotional connection through postcrossing. The methodological basis of the research is an interpretive approach using structured interview methods (n = 39) and questionnaire survey (N = 113,856, n = 384). The data analysis methodology is based on the interpretation of personal data (descriptive statistics, correlations) and qualitative analysis of interviews (thematic coding). The results of the study revealed that postcrossing performs communicative, creative, educational, integrative and identification functions, contributes to the destruction of cultural stereotypes, strengthening weak social ties and the formation of new forms of solidarity in a global society. This article substantiates that postcrossing acts as a mediator of intercultural dialogue and social empathy, as well as as a way of symbolic self-expression and ritualized communication. The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of applying its results in socio-cultural, educational and integration practice, especially in working with youth and vulnerable social groups. The novelty of the research lies in the multidimensional analysis of postcrossing as a modern form of socio-cultural practice that can compensate for the lack of genuine human interaction in the digital age. For the first time, we consider the impact of traditional postcard exchange on intercultural connections, identities, and social interaction in a globalized world. The present study contributes to the development of the sociological understanding of postcrossing, expanding existing scientific concepts that focused mainly on communicative, cultural, pedagogical and linguistic areas.

Social stereotypes in Russian television beer advertising.

Moskvin A.S., Kushova I.A., Golenok M.P., Vilisova V.A.

Abstract

Beer, as one of the most popular alcoholic beverages, occupies a significant place in the social and cultural life of Russia. It not only reflects consumer preferences but also serves as an important element of collective identity, influencing the formation of certain behavioral patterns and stereotypes. In the context of overall alcohol consumption, beer is often perceived as a "socially acceptable" drink that accompanies everyday communication and leisure, which enhances its symbolic significance in the culture of the country. Studying the ways in which it is represented in media content, particularly in advertising, allows for a deeper understanding of the characteristics of social reality, the system of cultural norms, values, and popular perceptions inherent in Russian society. The subject of this study is social stereotypes, and the goal is to identify and analyze the dynamics of their use in Russian beer advertising. During the research, a content analysis method was employed to analyze 92 television commercials about beer released from the 1990s to the 2020s. The selection criterion for the television commercials was the mention of beer products in the advertisements. The analysis of beer advertising in Russia revealed that almost half of the commercials lacked stereotypes; however, their use has increased since the 2010s. The study classified social stereotypes: the most common ones were national and physiological, while the least common were gender, age, drinking behavior, and interaction stereotypes. Regarding temporal dynamics, the highest growth was recorded for national and age-related stereotypes, particularly involving elderly actors. Gender stereotypes remain stable, but male images are losing their dominance. Drinking and interaction stereotypes, as well as physiological ones, demonstrate a negative dynamic. The novelty of this research lies in the fact that, unlike previous studies dedicated to analyzing social stereotypes in advertising in general, this work specifically analyzes television beer advertising for the first time. The study contributes to developing an understanding of the prevalence of social stereotypes in Russian society. The practical significance of the work lies in the potential use of the obtained data for developing social advertising, media policies, and regulatory norms aimed at fostering a more responsible and ethical image of alcohol consumption.

Intangible Forms of Incentives and Social Inequality: An Analysis of Perception Across Social Groups

Dong Y.

Abstract

The subject of this study is non-material forms of incentive as a component of the sociocultural mechanism for reproducing social hierarchy and maintaining symbolic power. The object is the perception and interpretation of such incentives by different social groups in a post-industrial and stratified society. The author explores how concepts like “recognition,” “respect,” “engagement,” and “value-based labor mission” are constructed in public, managerial, and cultural discourses and differently interpreted by the middle class, elites, and marginalized groups. The analysis spans institutional contexts such as corporate culture, education, and media. Particular focus is given to symbolic asymmetry in access to recognition and legitimate non-material incentives, which may both promote engagement and serve as markers of exclusion and cultural domination. The study applies a sociocultural and discursive approach, with elements of conceptual analysis based on secondary sources. Its scientific novelty lies in viewing non-material motivation not as a neutral management tool but as a cultural mechanism reinforcing social stratification and symbolic boundaries. The author shows that the perception of “soft motivation” is deeply linked to social status, cultural capital, and access to institutional recognition. In contexts of symbolic inequality, non-material incentives like respect and engagement gain selective, rather than universal, meaning—reproducing exclusion and alienation among vulnerable groups. The study concludes that a new symbolic hierarchy is forming, where “non-material privileges” signify social legitimacy. The paper contributes to the sociology of inequality by rethinking the role of non-material incentives in labor motivation through the lens of sociocultural asymmetries and symbolic differentiation.

The educational potential of digital storytelling: a bibliometric study of Russian publications (based on materials from the NFB eLIBRARY.RU)

Prokof'eva A.S.

Abstract

This study examine digital storytelling as one of the products of digitalization. Digital storytelling is a method of conveying information in narrative form using various digital technologies. In recent years, interest in this topic has sharply increased in fields such as pedagogy, journalism, marketing, and digital media. Despite the growing interest in this topic, there is insufficient formalization of data in scholarly sources regarding the specifics of using digital storytelling in different interpretations, as well as its impact on processes in the educational sphere and sociocultural transformations. The aim of this research is to identify the main trends and directions of digital storytelling applications based on a systematic analysis of scientific publications. To select publications on the platform NEB eLIBRARY.RU, a search query was constructed at the intersection of digital storytelling and education. A total of 105 articles were selected for analysis. Their subsequent analysis was conducted through the examination of statistical reports. The distributions of publications were studied based on themes, keywords, journals, organizations, years, and citation counts. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that digital storytelling is successfully developing in areas such as pedagogy and the humanities; however, as an independent field, it is in the formation stage. The examined body of publications allows us to conclude that the presented data are primarily methodological and theoretical developments of an applied nature. Some of the reviewed publications have a high citation index, indicating a burgeoning scientific interest and the formation of a research community around this topic. The study of digital storytelling as a tool for meaning generation, transmission of cultural codes, and formation of digital identity within the framework of a section of sociology known as "Sociology of Communication" is seen as a promising direction.
