Functional features of acronyms in english political discourse
摘要
The paper provides an analysis of acronyms in terms of functions they implement in the texts of publications of politicians and political organisations on websites and on social media. The results of the study allow to establish a correlation between the type of acronym and its function.


Persuasiveness in showing attitude towards mandatory vaccination against COVID-19: gender aspect
摘要
The article considers the use of persuasion tactics by representatives of different socio-sexual groups. The analysis and comparison of the persuasive strategies performed by both men and women is carried out. Special attention is paid to the problem of identifying the producers of statements, which is caused by gender anonymity in the media discourse and difficulties in decoding the meaning of statements.


Tourist slogan as a tool of persuasion in advertising communication

The article discusses the persuasive tactics in advertising and their implementation in tourist slogans by language means. English slogans posted on websites of English-speaking travel companies served as the material for the study. The linguistic analysis has shown that the use of persuasive tactics is an important element of the promotion of services in tourism. The analysis proves the correlation between advertising persuasive tactics and the main tasks of marketing.


Emotional persuasive strategy in english business plan: linguistic aspect of implementation

This article aims to describe the emotional persuasive strategy in English business plan. Based on the analysis of authentic texts of a model English business plan developed by the author, the persuasive tactics and their language markers are identified. A conclusion is made about the variety of language means used within the framework of one tactic.

The article describes the content of the author's communicative strategies by decomposing them into tactics and speech moves in journalistic texts on economic topics. The result of the study is the disclosure of the author's communication strategies and the identification of tactics for assessing economic problems.


Prescriptivism in romanian lexicography
摘要
The article argues that prescriptivism in dictionary making is a pervasive feature, despite the lexicographers’ claims that the dictionary they present to the public is descriptive in approach. Since prescriptiveness is a matter of degrees rather than an absolute and, moreover, it can occur under different guises, we use the case of a major Romanian dictionary project in order to highlight some reifications of normative attitudes identifiable in the outside matter, macrostructure and microstructure of dictionaries.


Political correctness in language: a theoretical approach

The article touches upon the issues of the unique and at the same time multifaceted phenomenon as political correctness. The term has long been out of the framework of politics and has acquired a new meaning as a language phenomenon. The study shows that there is a large number of definitions of political correctness but the key point is the adjustment of speech in order to avoid insulting people on several grounds.

The author analyzes the memoir of Richard Branson, the founder of the multinational venture capital conglomerate "Virgin Group". As a result, the themes that make the information structure of business memoir text are identified.

The article presents an analysis of some ontological issues of speech persuasion. The author describes the structure of the phenomenon and defines it. The study also considers the opportunity to evaluate the success of speech persuasion based on the general ideas of its implementation.


Translation of song lyrics as special type of literary translation
摘要
The goal of this article is to analyze various translation transformations in the English-Russian translation of the lyrics of the song Whispers in the Dark. The choice of the topic of the study is due to the still limited knowledge of the translation of song lyrics along with the ongoing development of the music industry. The study shows that the style, rhyme, rhythm and vocabulary of the song have an impact on its lyrics translation.
