St. John the Theologian Cathedral as historical monument of Saransk
摘要
The article is devoted to the architectural monument of federal importance, St. John the Theologian Cathedral, built in Saransk in the 17th century. Before 1991 the church was the second cathedral of the bishops of Penza and Saransk and the only functioning church in Saransk and its surroundings. With the formation of the independent Saransk and Mordovian diocese, the cathedral became a school for priestly service. Most of the today's clergymen of the Mordovian diocese passed through the temple's altar. After the opening of a new cathedral in honor of the righteous warrior St. Theodore Ushakov, the church retained its cathedral status.


Smolensk War of 1632-1634: traditions, innovations and complexes

The work describes the course and features of the Smolensk War of 1632-34. These features, on the one hand, distinguish this conflict from the number of similar Russian-Polish wars, and on the other hand, make it a kind of «continuator» of these clashes between the two powers of Eastern Europe in their two-hundred-year confrontation.

The article discusses some myths about the first Russian tsar, Ivan IV the Terrible. The authors trace their origin and explain the reasons for their appearance. It is noted that the myths about Ivan the Terrible have widely penetrated not only into historical literature, but also into modern school and university textbooks, and have long been important topics in cultural heritage.


Burial grounds of the Mordva-Erzia of the Arzamas district of the Nizhny Novgorod region: characteristics and features

The article provides an overview of the archaeological sites (burial grounds) of the Mordvа-Erzia of the Arzamas district of the Nizhny Novgorod region of the 3rd-13th centuries. The composition of their belongings and the funeral ritual complex prove social changes in the life of the Mordovians of this time and show their relations with the neighboring nations.

The effectiveness of urban development in Siberia: history and moder times
摘要
The article presents an analysis of the effectiveness of urban planning in Siberia in historical retrospect. The «efficiency» category in this case reflects the correspondence of the costs and results of an innovative project to the interests and goals of the state and population. The proposed urban development projects should undoubtedly resolve the issue of population density imbalance between the east and west of the country, create conditions for the realization of geopolitical interests and security of the country, give impetus to intensive economic development. Despite the stated optimistic forecasts for the implementation of such projects, there are grounds for serious concerns about their implementation in the near future.

The article discusses the prerequisites for education and the main directions of development of the oldest school in the Lyambirsky district of the Republic of Mordovia. The activities of the school in various time periods are considered. The description of its cultural, historical, educational role in the life of society and the village of Lyambir in particular is presented.


Social aspects of evacuation during the Great Patriotic War: a study of the Mordovian ASSR

The article examines migration processes in the USSR during the Great Patriotic War. The authors consider the placement of the evacuated population in the Mordovian ASSR, their social security, professional employment, relationship with local residents and authorities over the period of 1941-1942.
