Government support for military sevice-disabled persons and their families: status and current issues
Abstract
Abstract. The current military-social policy of the Russian Federation pays a lot of attention to the state support for the persons who are disabled as a result of war injuries and diseases obtained during the military service, and their families. The article presents the legal acts regulating this sphere, analyzes the trends of state support for these categories of citizens in the recent years. The authors reveal the major problems in the legislative regulation of state support for military service- disabled people and their families. A number of proposals to fill the legislative gaps are offered.


Prospective student of a classical university in the admission process
Abstract
The article presents the behavior characteristics of prospective students of a classical university found through a questionnaire survey of the first-year students of the National Research Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod (n=588). The study considers the behavior of prospective students when choosing the University at the preparatory stage and in the admission process as well as the motives of choosing the University and professional orientations.


Social adaptation of international students
Abstract
The article considers the problem of adaptation of international students to a new sociocultural environment. The study is based on a questionnaire survey of international students of Mordovia State University. The survey data shows the forms of inter-ethnic interaction of Russian and international students, the degree of intercultural adaptation, the levels of cultural shock of international students in the process of their adaptation. The relations between Russian and international students are described. The factors delaying the process of acculturation are studied.


The attitudes of young people to starting a family and childbearing: a study of the republic of mordovia
Abstract
The article is based on an empirical study of the attitudes of the young people of the Republic of Mordovia to starting a family and childbearing. The survey shows the factors influencing the reproductive behavior of youth, the preferable number of children, the views of young people on the common-law marriage.




Civil society: determination of social nature and functional essence
Abstract
The categorical concept of "civil society" is determined. The common points of view of scientists on the interpretation of the social nature and essence of civil society are presented. The functional basis of civil society is revealed. The authors specify the socio-functional duty of political journalism as a media-communicative intermediary between the authorities and the people.


Involvement Of Experts In The Development Of Federal State Educational Standards: A Study Based On In-Depth Interviews
Abstract
The article considers the involvement of representatives of various expert communities in the development and implementation of the Federal State Educational Standards. The analysis of the in-depth interviews shows the key factors determining the attitude of the experts to their involvement in the development of educational standards, the efficiency of the relevant procedures and possible ways of improving them.


Later Childbearing As A Social Phenomenon
Abstract
The article studies the problem of later childbearing as a social phenomenon. The author identifies social factors of late childbearing, among them career, remarriage, the spread of hedonistic attitudes in the society and the standards of the consumer society. The interviewed mothers are divided into the following groups: pragmatically minded; supporters of the traditional choice; women dependent on public opinion; conformists.


Professional identity of a medical student: factors and problems of formation
Abstract
The article deals with the factors affecting the formation of professional identity of medical students on macro, meso and micro levels. Considering the results of a sociological survey of students of the Medical Institute of Mordovia State University, the authors analyze their motivation for getting and using of professional knowledge, the problems of their professional development, the prestige of medical profession in the modern Russian society. The study presents a model of the effective medical student with quite developed professional identity.


Choosing a university by first-year students: professional and social factors
Abstract
The article considers the process of choosing a university influenced by professional and social factors. The results of a sociological survey of first-year students of Ogarev Mordovia State University show a dependence of their choice of a university on social factors (family resources, parents' education and employment, etc.). It is concluded that the choice of a university and fields of study/training programs by first-year students is largely dependent and mediated. The study shows a correlation between some elements of making a choice of a university: knowledge of profession and confidence in the choice of field of study; the choice of training program and parents' employment, etc.
