Abstract

The history of formation and development of social upbringing in Russia is considered. At the end of XIX century there was the burst of pedagogical innovations in developed countries of the world in response to crisis of the educational system that concerned Russia. Negotiation of this crisis seemed to be in using new approaches in pedagogy (labour school, social pedagogy, ideas of free upbringing and so on). Special attention is drawn to the influence of social sphere on a child, which includes problems of social influence on personality. The cooperation of school and social sphere in upbringing young generation from the end of XIX to the beginning of XX century is analyzed. The essence of the concepts “pedagogization of environment”, “public upbringing”, “social upbringing” is defined. It is mentioned that the direction “pedagogy of environment” that examined influence of social sphere on a child in national pedagogical science was formed in this period. Attention is drawn to reasons which influence possibility of rehabilitation of concept “social upbringing”. It is concluded that this science and subject area comprise problems which are connected with social upbringing of different groups of people and that “social upbringing” is key concept of social pedagogy.
