The word-formation potential of English-language borrowings in modern Russian (using the prefixes cyber-, hyper-, e- as an example)

this study analyzes the word-formation potential of English borrowings with the prefixes cyber-, hyper-, and e- in modern Russian. It covers a period of active digitalization of society, when these word-formation elements became widespread in various spheres of communication. The paper examines key aspects of the productivity of the prefixes under study, from the mechanisms of their penetration into the Russian language to modern word-formation trends. Particular attention is paid to the degree of adaptation of borrowed prefixal elements to the Russian language system, their ability to form new lexical units, and the patterns of their functioning. The semantic features of new formations, their stylistic affiliation, and frequency of use in various discourses are analyzed. The study identifies the main word-formation patterns involving the prefixes cyber-, hyper-, and e- and evaluates their productivity using modern texts. The problems and prospects for the further assimilation of these word-formation elements in the Russian language are discussed.
