Abstract
the article examines verbs of motion in Russian and Arabic used in a nominative-derivative meaning in thematic groups – time and mental activity in situations: the onset, course, end of time and understanding, awareness, deliberation. The lexical and semantic meaning of verbs of motion in Arabic used in a figurative meaning is also analyzed, which determines the correct use of the verb in this context. Based on the analysis, the peculiarity and difference in the use of verbs of motion in a figurative sense in Russian and Arabic in the studied thematic groups are revealed.
