Determining factors influencing the formation of New Zealand English

this work is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the New Zealand version of the English language as an original linguistic system formed under the influence of historical, socio-cultural and geographical factors. The purpose of the work is to identify the mechanisms of linguistic transformation that led to the emergence and evolution of this variant. To achieve this goal, the role of British English as the basis of phonetic, grammatical, and lexico-semantic norms was considered. Particular attention was paid to the influence of the culture of the Polynesian Maori tribe, which gave unique features to the New Zealand version. An important aspect was the study of the penetration of Americanisms into the spoken version through mass communication. In addition, the role of the geographical factor was analyzed, namely the influence of Australian English on the New Zealand language system. The using of an interdisciplinary approach combining the methods of historical linguistics, sociolinguistics and cultural studies has made it possible to demonstrate, using the example of New Zealand English, that a superficial analysis cannot provide an adequate explanation of the causes of certain features characteristic of the language. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of applying its results in the field of linguistics and intercultural communication. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the dynamics of linguistic changes, emphasizing the need for an integrated approach to the study of language variants as a reflection of centuries-old historical and cultural processes.
