Abstract

the article examines the etiquette of feasting in the epics of different cultures. The epics of the Turkic peoples “Kitabi-Dede Korkut” and the German people “The Song of the Nibelungs” are analyzed. Along with various traditions, the ceremony of welcoming guests is of particular importance in the creation of epics. This custom has been present in the culture of many peoples since ancient times and persists to this day. In addition to a good reception of the guest, one of the important etiquettes is the presence on the table of dishes that occupy an important place in the culture of this people. Because observing this etiquette is a sign of respect for the guest. But the main value of table etiquette is meeting a guest. The remaining elements are secondary. According to the rules of etiquette, the host who organizes the party should be hospitable and smiling. Turning to the epics “Kitabi-Dede Korkut” and “The Song of the Nibelungs”, considered rare pearls of the Azerbaijani and German peoples, differing in geographical and national characteristics, we will determine to what extent the customs and traditions of these peoples are reflected in these epic texts. The ceremony of welcoming guests, which is one of the oldest traditions of our people and is considered important, is described very beautifully and interestingly in Kitabi-Dede Korkut.
