The contribution of White emigration to the development of the Russian language in Turkey

Russian White emigration influence on the development of the Russian language in Turkey in the period of the 1920s is studied in this work. The article considers not only the direct effect of introducing new lexical units and speech phrases, but also an indirect effect through the preservation of archaic forms and dialects, as well as through the creation of a kind of linguistic "preservative" that prevented the penetration of Soviet innovations. The author analyzes both written sources (emigrant press, literature, personal correspondence) and oral evidence (memoirs, interviews) in order to identify the specific features of the Russian language, which developed in isolation from its historical homeland. Special attention is paid to the role of White emigration in the formation and maintenance of Russian culture and identity in the Turkish socio-cultural space.
