Abstract

the proposed article deals with the theme of the Motherland expressed in proverbs and sayings of three nations: Russian, English and German. Proverbs and sayings, as part of folklore, are a unique reflection of the mentality, outlook and value system of the people. They convey centuries-old experience and wisdom, attitude to the native land, home and the surrounding world. The purpose of this article is to identify similarities and differences in the attitude of these peoples to their Motherland. Tasks – to analyze their common and unique features in the perception of the homeland, cultural characteristics, respect for traditions and values reflected in proverbs. Russian proverbs and sayings about the Motherland reflect the deep connection of a person with his native land, his readiness to protect it, the Motherland in them is often associated with family, home and nature. English proverbs show a practical and rational approach to the concept of Motherland. There is less emotional expression in them, but more emphasis on comfort and security; the English perceive home as a fortress where a person can close himself off from the outside world. German proverbs reflect a deep connection to place of birth, cultural heritage and community. These proverbs convey the values of the German people: respect for tradition, hard work and the desire for harmony, and continue to be relevant in today's world. The presented article will be of interest to philologists and specialists in the field of literature and language.
