The article says that student hockey occupies one of the leading places in the development strategy of student sports at the Ogarev Mordovian State University. Results. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation intensively promotes the development of student sports, paying attention to the creation and maintenance of appropriate infrastructure in institutions of higher education, as well as the implementation of projects aimed at opening up sports to students in various regions of our country. Hockey is a specific direction of our university for the development of sports among students. Hockey plays a key role in stimulating interest in sports among the student audience. Many students, having attended a hockey match at least once, become interested in this sport and become not only its fans, but also novice hockey players. Conclusion. It is very valuable for the university to involve students in such a field as hockey, whether they are fans themselves or hockey players. The focus on a sporty lifestyle allows us to raise the younger generation with the right life guidelines.
