Abstract
the article is devoted to the description of genealogical approaches and methods in the field of socio-cultural cognition in postmodernism. The function of F. Nietzsche's methodology of cognition, the genealogical approach in the methodology of M. Foucault's historical and philosophical cognition, the genealogical approach in psychology, and the goals of psychogenealogy are described. Genealogical approaches in the fields of philosophy, history, and psychology are aimed at identifying and studying hidden factors in the historical, cultural, and family context, which helps to understand the causes of concern or hindrance to human and social development.
