Abstract

goal: to evaluate the clinical efficacy and dynamics of quality of life in patients with chronic sinusitis using individualized homeopathic therapy. Materials and methods. The study was conducted at the Republican Clinical Hospital in Makhachkala from January 2022 to March 2025. The follow-up included 20 adult patients with a confirmed diagnosis of chronic sinusitis lasting more than 12 weeks (ICD-10: J32.9). All patients received a course of classical homeopathic therapy prescribed by doctors with at least 3 years of experience. The severity of symptoms was assessed on a numerical scale (NRS), and the quality of life was assessed on the SF-36 questionnaire. The follow-up period was 24 months. The analysis included assessments of the dynamics of symptoms, quality of life, and frequency of use of traditional medications. For statistical analysis, multiple linear regression with imputation of missing data using the Rubin method was used. Results. During the first 3 months, there was a marked decrease in the intensity of symptoms (the average NRS score decreased by 2.1 points), which persisted in the subsequent period. After 2 years of therapy, 85% of patients showed a steady improvement in their subjective well-being, and the frequency of using traditional medicines decreased by 47%. The quality of life in the psycho-emotional component significantly improved (p < 0.05), while the physical component did not show significant changes. No side effects were recorded. Conclusions. A two-year follow-up demonstrated the potential effectiveness of homeopathic therapy as an additional approach in patients with chronic sinusitis, especially in the case of insufficient effect of traditional treatment. The data obtained allow us to recommend further study of the mechanism of action and the expansion of indications for the use of homeopathic remedies in otorhinolaryngology.
