the article explores the key factors shaping academic motivation among university students in China and Russia. It analyzes cultural, social, economic, and educational conditions that influence students’ learning activity in both countries. Special attention is given to the role of family, teaching style, level of competition, national education policies, and individual expectations. A comparative approach reveals both similarities and differences in the structure and sources of academic motivation. The findings are based on surveys, interviews, and document analysis. The study concludes with recommendations to adapt educational strategies considering the cultural context and motivational patterns of each country.
