Abstract

The given article considers the issue of phonetical layout of the word ‘sweatshirt’, the latter having been loaned from English into Russian. Analyzing the reasons for this borrowing, the authors contemplate why this lexical unit, having entered the casual usage of the Russian language, underwent such kind of alterations, what are the peculiarities of its perception, and why it demonstrates certain phonetical transformations in the recipient language.
