Abstract

Aim. This work aims to increase the load-bearing capacity of tubular beams, allowing for a wider range of construction products.

Materials and Methods. The study utilizes geometric optimization methods and hypothetical experiments.

Results. A tubular beam with a liquid filler (hydraulic beam) is a round pipe, plugged at both ends, completely (without air pockets) filled with liquid. When the hydraulic beam is subjected to load, its side surface tends to deform. However, since the liquid inside is incompressible, it resists any reduction in volume. This resistance prevents the pipe from deforming under stress.

Conclusion. The load-bearing capacity of a hydraulic beam is five times higher than that of an I-beam and ten times higher than that of a tubular beam.
