Abstract
This article analyzes new research by M.V. Leskinen, dedicated to the reception of Russianness in culture, social practices, and representations of supreme power in Russia in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The author argues with M.V. Leskinen regarding the semantic content and interpretations of such receptions, particularly those related to representations of autocracy and the projections of these representations onto public opinion, which was under the influence of increasing social instability.
