Abstract
this article provides a detailed analysis of the important and multifaceted role of the Arabic language in the context of the contemporary Republic of Sudan, a task that is extremely relevant and important in light of the cultural and social changes taking place in the country. The focus is on both the classical Arabic language and its territorial dialects, which vary depending on the region and are considered in different social situations. The study is based on data collected through surveys conducted among representatives of four age cohorts: 20-30 years, 30-40 years, 40-50 years and 50-60 years. The work pays attention to the presence of English, which plays a significant role in the field of education and professional activities, reflecting globalization and the influence of foreign cultures. The relevance of English in Sudan is often justified by its use in universities and professional meetings, which provides young people with more opportunities for career advancement and intercultural communication. The aim of the study is to examine the functioning of the Arabic language and its dialects in Sudan, as well as the role of foreign languages in different age cohorts of the population. The objectives of the study include: to determine which languages are used by respondents of different age cohorts to consume media content. To analyze respondents' preferences when reading books, newspapers and magazines. To establish which languages are used by representatives of different age cohorts to draw up official documents. To identify the main reasons influencing the choice of language, including educational, cultural and social factors. The practical significance of the study is that its results can be used to develop educational and cultural programs aimed at supporting linguistic diversity and improving the level of language proficiency of the population.
