Abstract

the importance of phraseologisms in legal language cannot be overstated, as they not only enrich the text, but also serve as a tool to accurately convey legal concepts. This article discusses phraseological units used in English legal terminology and their role in legal language. Phraseologisms are stable phrases that have a specific meaning and are often used in legal texts to convey complex concepts and ideas. The study aims to identify the peculiarities of the use of phraseologisms in various fields of law, such as criminal, civil and international law. The author analyzes examples of phraseologisms, their semantic and syntactic characteristics, as well as the influence of cultural and historical factors on their formation and use. The article also discusses the problems of translating legal phraseological units into Russian, which emphasizes the importance of understanding the context and specifics of the legal system. The results of the study can be useful for both legal professionals and linguists involved in legal lexicology and translation. In conclusion, the need to further study phraseologisms in a legal context for a deeper understanding of the legal language and its dynamics is emphasized.
