Abstract

the article addresses the relevant problem of developing professional self-awareness among deaf athletes within the context of professional education methodology. Professional self-awareness is viewed as an integrative component of personal and professional development, determined by the specifics of sports activities and the socio-cultural characteristics of the Deaf community. The article presents the results of a theoretical analysis and empirical study aimed at developing, theoretically substantiating, and testing a model for the formation of professional self-awareness in deaf athletes during sports improvement. The central element of the model is the authors' developed glossary of sports signs for deaf volleyball. The model was tested during a formative experiment using a set of complementary methods. The theoretical significance of the study lies in deepening the scientific understanding of the structure and dynamics of professional self-awareness of deaf athletes, while the practical significance lies in creating tested tools for their training system.
