Resumo

The relations of the US government and American multinational companies are studied in the article in historical perspective in the context of commonalities and differences in national interests and objectives of MNCs. Based on the analysis of economic indicators of multinational corporations in the period from 1989 through 2019 (which covers both offshoring and reshoring of production facilities by American companies) tendencies in relations between MNCs and the US government are outlined. The history of these relations from middle of the XX century is split into four stages, the evolution of which enables to forecast their further development.
