Abstract
The process of the state archival institutions transition the jurisdiction of the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs in the Gorky region is studied. The completeness of recording the state, material and personnel support of the Gorky region archival institutions in 1939 in documents of the Central Archive of the Nizhny Novgorod region are analyzed.
