Abstract
The article analyzes features of the translation process of original and modified German proverbs. Each stage of translation takes a certain place in any action, realizing its functions, obeying its specific aims. Translation of proverbs occupies a special place and is a separate art in the system of translation activities. The difficulty of translating proverbs is that we are talking about transferring its meaning, and not literally translating characters from one language to another.
