Jane Austen in Latin America: Expansion of the Literary Field

Abstract

The article highlights the phenomenon of the expansion of the semiosphere on the example of the development of the «literary field Jane Austen» in Latin America. The theoretical basis of the research is the concepts developed by Yu. M. Lotman concerning text of culture and semiosphere. The work of R. Collins on the global theory of intellectual change is considered as a starting point. The conclusion is made about the special nature of the expanding «Austen’s universe» in the studied region, the components of each of the components of the «field» are revealed.
