Abstract

The article examines the classification of contact variants existing in Czech and Slovak linguistics in accordance with the language levels (phonetic, word-formation, lexical, morphological, syntactic and phraseological). A new classification based on the relationship between the original word and its contact analogue is proposed. The article analyzes in detail different types of contact variants, and concludes whether this pair of words contains a contact variant or not.
