Abstract

The aim of the investigation is to describe the semantics of the structure «remain + past participle» as an aspect modification of the passive construction with the meaning of continuation. The research is performed on the basis of text-corpus data, along with the contrastive analysis applied to the results of preceding studies in English and German. The result of the analysis: several semantic groups of past participle tending to interact with the copula «remain» are established. The urgency of the investigation: aspect copula verbs remain little-studied as operators of the modification of the be-passive.
