"Memoirs of Carlo Goldoni": to the Problem of Authorship of the Italian Version

The article is devoted to the problem of the authorship of the Italian version of the «Memoirs» by the great Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni, published in Paris in 1787 in French and published a year later in Venice in Italian. The features of the language and style of this Italian version are considered in comparison with the French original and a later Italian translation made by the philologist and translator Francesco Costero. Linguistic analysis shows the closeness of the French and the first Italian versions, and additions in the text indicate that the authorship of the translation belongs to the playwright himself.
