Main Functions of Intensity in the English-Language Autobiographical Discourse

Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of the linguistic category of intensity, its features, linguistic means of its representation at various language levels. The main characteristics of the autobiographical discourse are considered that serve as the basis for the research. The paper highlights and describes the main functions of the intensification of statements in English autobiographical discourse, such as defensive, exculpatory, accusatory and some other functions.
